The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, located in Mihintale, was established on 07th November 1995, under section 21 of the University Act No.16th of 1978, with the prime inspiration of establishing a center of excellence in higher education, research, and dissemination of knowledge through producing high quality, innovative intellectuals with creativity and discipline, developing competencies of staff, creating a conducive environment for teaching, learning, research and dissemination of knowledge and to promote co-existence with mutual respect and ethical behavior. At present, the university consists of six faculties: the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Management Studies, the Faculty of Medicine & Allied Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, and the Faculty of Technology.
The Faculty of Management Studies was established with the inception of the University in 1995 with the mission “To produce high quality, innovative Intellectuals with creativity and discipline , develop competencies and dedication of staff, create a conducive environment for teaching, learning, research, and dissemination of knowledge and to promote co-existence with mutual respect and ethical behavior.” The Faculty currently operates with six study departments; the Department of Accountancy & Finance, Department of Business Management, Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, Department of Marketing Management, Department of Human Resource Management, and Department of Information Systems. The student population of the Faculty as of January 2022 consists of 1863 internal students, 4536 external students, and 134 postgraduate students.
We are excited to announce the second International Research Symposium on Management (IRSM) to be held on 16th November 2023, under the theme of "From Resilience to Resistance: The Role of Digital Transformation in Business Sustainability." This symposium recognizes the need for businesses to adapt to the rapidly changing world by building resilience, but also moving beyond it towards resistance by leveraging digital transformation for sustainable growth and success. The IRSM 2023 will provide a platform for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to share their insights, best practices, and research findings on the topic of business resilience, resistance, and digital transformation. We invite extended abstract submissions on a broad range of management topics, including but not limited to digitalization, innovation, strategic management, marketing, and human resource management. The symposium will feature keynote speeches by distinguished experts, panel discussions, and extended abstract presentations, offering ample opportunities for networking and collaboration among participants. We look forward to welcoming researchers, scholars, and practitioners from around the world to join us in exploring the role of digital transformation in building resilient, resistant, and sustainable businesses. We hope that this symposium will facilitate thought-provoking discussions, collaborations, and new insights in the field of management. As a remarkable milestone in the journey of the Faculty of Management Studies in the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, the first International Research Symposium on Management (IRSM 2022) is organized to be held on 06th October 2022 on the theme of “The BANI world: Co-creating the business resilience towards the new normal and beyond” as a hybrid event by adhering to the strict healthcare guidelines during COVID-19 pandemic. International Research Symposium on Management (IRSM) is an annual research symposium initiated to share research findings novel concepts and disseminate knowledge of young researchers with the collaboration of diverse scholars and practitioners.
Extended abstracts will be called from researchers under different management disciplines. This International Research Symposium on Management will provide an ideal opportunity to highlight researchers' research capability and potential between industry and academia in the 21st Century.

Christian M.Ringle is a renowned scholarand a Chaired Professor of Management and Directorof the Institute of Human Resource Management and Organizations (HRMO) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) in Germany. He completed his Ph.D. in Business and Economics at the University of Hamburg and has held visiting research positions at Georgia State University and Osaka City University.Ringle has also been a Conjoint Professor at the University of TechnologySydney and the University of Newcastle in Australia.
Professor Mohammad Nurunnabi, PhD, CMA, SFHEA, FRSA, FAIA-Acad, CMBE, CPA, holds the position of Aide to the President on Research, Ranking and Internationalization, and serves as the Chair of the Department of Accounting at Prince Sultan University in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he is recognized as an Academic Visitor (Senior Member) at St Antony's College, University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Nuwan Gunarathne is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, specializing in the field of accounting. He is a member of both the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (UK). Nuwan earned his doctorate in Corporate Sustainability and Sustainability Accounting from Griffith University in Australia. He also holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) and a Business Administration degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
